DELL RAPIDS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -If the game’s on the line it’s probably in Colin Rentz’ hands. Colin Rentz, Dell Rapids Senior says, “When it comes to crunch time I want to be the guy my coach can look at and say I want you to have the ball in the final moments.”

An attitude that developed from going up against a familiar face growing up at home-his identical twin brother Connor. Rentz says, “There’s always competition. It goes back to backyard basketball and it really just brings the toughness out of you and I like having a twin brother that I can just get myself better with and we can work with each other and it’s just really fun for us.”

Put them together put a charge into Dell Rapids. Jason Fersdahl, Quarriers head coach says, “For four years we’ve called them our energizer bunnies and they do that. They make those hustle plays that every team needs and honestly everybody steps up to their level on our team. And when we get everyone flying around and hustling like that we can be pretty special.”

And Colin has been in the middle of everything, whether as the quarterback of the Quarrier football team, or the point guard on the basketball team who averaged 14 points, five rebounds and five assists per game last season with 49 steals. Colin says,”I’m going to give it my all and I’m going to do whatever it takes to win. I just love being in the moment. Ever since I was a kid playing in the Big Sioux League I’ve just loved playing in the moment.”

Off to a strong start in his senior season, Rentz hopes to get a shot at playing in college. Rentz says,”I want to get coaches to look at me and I want them to know I’m going to give them my shot. If they come and watch me then that’s great, but right now I’m just focusing on getting my team better.”

Which could happen if he continues making big shots.
