American Heart Month: A simple screening can go a long way

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A Sioux Falls man is thankful he decided to take a routine heart screening exam.

About a year and a half ago, Jim Slater took the opportunity to get a heart screening at the El Riad Shrine. It’s a decision that may have saved his life.

While doctors always encourage people to monitor their heart health, there is an extra push to bring awareness to the issue during February - American Heart Month.
