SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A winner in DTSF Inc.’s 5th Mash Madness brewery competition has been announced!

Severance Brewing was crowned the champion for the first time for its “Coconut Zambooki”. In second place was Remedy Brewing Company with the “Is This Even Beer?” and Fernson Brewing Company with the “Seltzer Sunrise” following in third place.

“Coconut Zambooki” is a sweet blonde ale brewed with roasted coconut and Colombian coffee from The Source Coffee Roastery. “Coconut Zambooki” will remain available while supplies last.

“It feels great to be recognized in having one of the best brews in our community against some of the greatest competing DTSF breweries.” — Mark Stavenger, Co-Owner and CEO of Severance Brewery Company.

DTSF says this year’s competition is set to be the largest in its history with participating breweries, beers sold, economic impact, and overall community support.

According to DTSF, 4,351 total beers were sold from five breweries for a total beer sale of $26,808 and an estimated economic impact of over $132,052. 128 people tasted and rated all five brews during Mash Madness and 47 people completed the Halftime Buzzer event. As the first year using the Downtown Sioux Falls Digital Passport App for Mash Madness, 6,712 users reported 1,226 votes.
