SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week stays very busy at Beresford High School.

Laura Bogue has been constantly on the go throughout her high school years in Beresford.

”With my involvement in athletics and extracurriculars, I never have a dull moment,” said Laura.

”Laura Bogue is a Scholar of the Week for us because she embodies what it means for our Watchdog experience,” said High School Principal Dustin Degen.

Laura is an athlete, who takes part in basketball, along with cross-country and track and field. She’s also in band and FFA to name a few. And she’s the student body president, all while maintaining a 4.140 GPA. She credits staying busy for her academic success.

”I think being in those actually made me a better student as well because they taught me how to manage my time so well and how to be responsible for my own actions,” said Laura.

”Laura is a pusher what that means is that she always wants things to be better. She wants to improve the school that she’s in,” said Dustin.

And she plans to stay in-state for college.

”Right now I’m planning to attend South Dakota State University and I’m going to be majoring in human biology with a minor in nutrition,” said Laura.

Which will hopefully lead her to medical school, to eventually be an OB-GYN.

”Just working with livestock on my family farm and then shadowing medical professionals I’ve found that I like women’s health and family doctors really interests me,” said Laura.

It’s a bright future for this Watchdog standout.

For being named our Scholar of the Week, Laura receives a $250 scholarship from the Southeastern Electric Co-op, which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative
