Over 1,500 Sioux Falls seniors to graduate this weekend

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - As high school seniors across the country are honored this graduation season, more than 1,500 students at South Dakota’s largest school district are preparing to receive their diploma this weekend.

The Sioux Falls School District will hold its graduation ceremonies Sunday. A total of 1,540 seniors from the district’s four high schools will be recognized.

New Technology High School hosts the smallest graduating class with 67 students. Its ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Washington High School’s 452 seniors will be recognized at 1 p.m. Lincoln’s class of 461 seniors will have its ceremony at 4 p.m. Roosevelt High School, which has the largest class of 560, will hold its graduation at 7 p.m.

The following are a list of educational achievements of Sioux Falls’ class of 2021, according to the Sioux Falls School District:

*488 students are recognized as Regents Scholars by the South Dakota Department of Education

*231 students are members of the National Honor Society

*174 students are recognized as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars by the College Board

*13 students are National Merit Finalists

*409 students are Presidential Education Award Winners

*259 students have earned the Advanced Placement Achievement Award
