Dell Rapids wins State “B” HS Baseball Championship
Reusink belts 2-run HR at Birdcage as Quarriers win “B” title
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -The Quarriers of Dell Rapids are your State “B” HS Baseball champions after an exciting day on the diamond Tuesday. The semifinal game with Dakota Valley was a scoreless tie until Kaeden Eastman dropped a bases loaded single into center field for a walk-off 1-0 win.
So the Quarriers then faced a West Central team that had dominated Vermillion 9-3 in the other semifinal game at SF Stadium. And the Trojans took an early 2-0 lead as Noah Hohn brought home Ryan Healy in the 1st inning.
But the Quarriers didn’t let this one come down to a final at-bat. They took the lead for good with a 5-run 3rd inning as Austin Henry and Jack Henry had RBI doubles and Kaeden Eastman had another RBI single. Then it was MVP Landon Reusink who put the game away with a no-doubt 2-run blast to left field and the Quarriers were 9-2 winners for a very happy head coach.
Quarriers head coach Danny Miller says, ”It’s special, it’s always special to win. This is a special group and I’m glad we came out on the right end of it. Whether we win or not they’re always going to be a special group for us coaches and for each other.”
Tournament MVP Landon Reusink says, ”It feels great. Just building all year. At the beginning of the year we weren’t even that good but we just really built up to this moment. I don’t even know what to think. Just try to enjoy it.”
