Police investigating string of reported gunshots throughout Sioux Falls neighborhoods
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Sioux Falls Police are investigating a string of reported gunshots throughout Sioux Falls neighborhoods this week.
On Sunday, police received a report of gunshots in the 3000 block of E. 2nd Street, just before 11 am. Witnesses reportedly saw a blue car stop in the area before the gunshots were fired. Three separate houses were struck by bullets with the bullets making their way inside of two of the houses. Police say they are reviewing surveillance video from the area.
During Wednesday’s media briefing, police say gunshots were reported near the 1400 block of S. Annway Dr., just after 2:30 am. Police found six shell casings in the area and discovered a house and a car in the area were struck.
On Thursday, police say they received three more reports of gunshots early Thursday morning.
Just before 2 am, gunshots were reportedly fired at a house in the 1200 block of W. 10th St. Four bullets struck the outside the house and two entered the house through a window, police say.
Before 6:30 am two more instances of gunshots were reported. A house in the 400 block of S. Summit Avenue was reportedly shot at and police found shell casings. Police say the house was not struck but a fence nearby was hit several times. Gunshots were also heard in the 200 block of N. Dominic Circle, although no shell casings were found and no property in the area was reported damaged.
Police did receive a description of vehicles in the area of S. Summit Avenue following the shooting but police are unsure if they were involved.
Police say they do not know if all of the shootings are connected.
No injuries were reported in any of the shootings.
