Fundraiser for Brandon student injured in Arrowhead Parkway crash
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A fundraiser continues Saturday for a Brandon Valley high school student who was seriously injured in a May 8th crash at Arrowhead and Highline drive.
Gia Elumbaring was with three other co-workers from Wild Buffalo Wings who were driving home after their shift had ended. Another vehicle, driving at a high rate of speed ran into the car, where Elumbaring was a passenger in the back seat. A 17-year-old and a 20-year-old died in the crash.
The Drop Nutrition is donating all proceeds from sales of smoothies. The fundraiser began Friday and continues through 3 pm Saturday, at 1302 Rushmore Drive, across from the Brandon Valley High School in Brandon.
Elumbaring suffered a laceration to her head, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, an injured ankle, and loss of a toe. She has had several surgeries and remains hospitalized.
She will be a senior at Brandon Valley high school in the fall.
The fundraiser will assist with medical expenses.
Elumbaring’s father set up a Go Fund Me page to help with expenses.
