SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -Her career ended Saturday night in Denver...But Kendall Cornick certainly made a big impression on the Augustana program while she was here.

Our Athlete of the Week is a finalist for the Division II Player of the Year. And the thing I find the most amazing is how she transformed her game from being a slap hitter to someone who belted 2 HR’s in one of the games in Denver at the World Series.

She cherished every moment of her career that was extended an extra year because of COVID 19. ”It’s been pretty fun. Just looking back 4 years ago when I first stepped foot on Augie’s field I was a different player. I was a slapper, I didn’t even hit away and now it’s just like whoa. I’ve flipped around in the outfield and I’ve done a lot of different things and it’s just been fun,” says Cornick.

Kendall, who is both fun-loving and a great leader, is headed for med school and she says there’s a good chance she might start up a slow pitch softball team while she’s there.
