Canaries Crush Houston Again
Birds open homestand with 18-6 victory
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The last time the Sioux Falls Canaries and Houston Apollos met the Birds bombed the visitors 16-0 on a chilly May 26th night at the Birdcage.
In their rematch a little over a week later the only thing different was the near 100 degree heat.
Despite spotting Houston three runs in the first the Birds would go on to crush the Apollos again, winning 18-6 to kick off a seven game homestand on Friday night.
Trey Michalczewski went 2-4 with a homerun, two runs scored and four RBI. Mike Hart also belted a dinger and went 3-6 with three runs scored and three RBI. Sioux Falls native Logan Landon went 5-6 with four RBI and two runs scored. Wyatt Ulrich also had four hits as the Canaries racked up 21 in the game.
Angel Ventura worked six innings and struck out four to pick up the victory and help the Canaries improve to 9-6.
The series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 4:05 PM.
