SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On a day where temperatures in Sioux Falls hit 100 degrees it appears as though the pitching staffs for the Sioux Falls Canaries and Houston Apollos melted in the heat.
In the first of two seven inning games the Canaries picked up where they had left off on Friday night after pounding out an American Association-record 21 hits during an 18-6 victory. Carlos Pimentel picked up the victory working six innings and allowing five hits, three earned runs and three walks while striking out seven.
In game two the Apollos finally defeated the Canaries for the first time in five meetings, using a seven run fourth inning and three run seventh to hold off Sioux Falls 12-11.
