SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - One person is in custody following two police pursuits in Sioux Falls on Friday as authorities continue to investigate last week’s reported gunshots throughout the city.

On Thursday night, as Sioux Falls Police were investigating reports of gunshots in the city throughout the week, witnesses described a suspicious black SUV. Police say officers patrolling in west Sioux Falls attempted to stop a black SUV matching witness descriptions. The SUV fled from the officers and a pursuit began. Police say the SUV made dangerous maneuvers, including turning off its lights, prompting officers to call off the pursuit.

On Friday, patrolling officers located a stolen Yukon Denali, matching descriptions of the black SUV, in west Sioux Falls. Police say the SUV fled from officers initiating a police pursuit. As the pursuit entered a busy downtown, police backed off and the suspects were able to escape.

Later that night, officers located the black SUV abandoned in an apartment’s parking lot near the 3000 block of East 11th Street. Police say as they were investigating the area, a reportedly stolen Toyota RAV4 entered the parking lot. Police believe the RAV4′s occupants were involved with the black SUV.

Police say officers gave commands to the two occupants before the vehicle rammed a police cruiser, nearly striking the officers. The RAV4 fled the area and authorities began another pursuit.

Police say the RAV4 eventually crashed in a field near 60th Street North and Bahnson and the suspects fled. Authorities deployed K9 units and a drone to help search the field. Authorities were able to apprehend one of the suspects.

Justice Bravehawk is charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement, aggravated eluding, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Bravehawk has only been charged in connection with Friday’s incidents. Police say the investigation into last week’s reported shootings is still ongoing.
