29 new COVID-19 cases, 1 new death reported in South Dakota Tuesday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota Department of Health reported 29 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday as active cases continue to decrease.

The new cases bring the state’s total case count to 124,302, 122,050 of which are considered recovered. Active cases continue to steadily decline in the state. Currently, 229 cases are considered active by the department of health.

According to the South Dakota Department of Health, 355,968 South Dakotans have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot. 306,763 South Dakotans have received both shots needed for maximum immunization from the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. 20,801 South Dakotans have received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

One new death was reported Tuesday. The state death toll is 2,023.
