SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -Reese Jansa came into the state tournament having gone 20 under par in her last 7 rounds of competitive golf. She went 5 under for a 66 Monday in the opening round of the Girls “AA” tournament and followed that up with a 3-under 68 Tuesday breaking Kim Kaufman’s record of 7 under par in the state championship when she was at Clark.

The O’Gorman girls shined once again with defending champ Shannon McCormick shooting a 73 in the 2nd round as the Knights went 2-3-4 with McCormick, Laren Sutcliffe and Emily Kolb. It’s the 4th straight title for Tom Jansa’s team

But the day belong to Reese Jansa who had an eagle on the front 9 and came within inches of an ace on #11 at Bakker Crossing for the 11-shot win. ”It means a lot to me” says Reese. “I mean, Kim Kaufman has been one of my biggest role models since I was young. I always look up to her. I mean, she’s on the LPGA, I would love to be on that! So I just think that’s really cool. I would say I’ve really put in my time. I go out to the golf course every day and I’m really putting in the time to get better. And my putting has been the best thing. Practicing that has been really helpful for me.”
