Mitchell and Vermillion voters re-elect mayors, bond vote decided in Clay County
SOUTH DAKOTA (Dakota News Now) - Voters cast their ballots in several South Dakota communities Tuesday.
Voters in Clay County were set to decide on a $41 million bond that would build a new courthouse and jail in Vermillion.
Unofficial results as of 9:40 p.m. Tuesday show that 766 people supported the bond, while 1,544 voted against.
Voters re-elect Mitchell Mayor
Incumbent Bob Everson’s seat was being challenged by two other candidates.
Everson told Dakota News Now on Tuesday evening that he will retain his position as Mayor.
Vermillion voters also decide on a new mayor
Early results show Kelsey Collier-Wise as the top vote-getter among a pool of four other candidates.
