Authorities investigating after man found dead on road in northwest Iowa

HINTON, Iowa (Dakota News Now) - An investigation is underway after officials say a man was found dead on on a highway in northwest Iowa.

A motorist called 911 just after 3 a.m. Monday saying they hit something in the roadway on U.S. Highway 75 about a mile north of Hinton, according to a news release from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.

A short time later, the sheriff’s office received another 911 call saying a person was lying in the roadway at the approximate location reported in the first call.

Deputies and emergency responders soon arrived at the scene and found a dead man on the road.

The victim’s name has not been released. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
