Sioux Falls native releases single for the summer, ‘Sunsets & Fireworks’
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Katie Fee grew up in Sioux Falls but moved to Nashville in 2017 to attend Belmont University. She graduated from the college in November of 2020 but still lives in Nashville to pursue her dream of becoming a professional singer and songwriter.
Fee released her debut single, “Sunsets and Fireworks” on May 21st. You can find it on any of the streaming platforms through her website.
“It’s one of those songs that I can see being timeless because of its relatability,” Fee said. “Everybody has a first love that they can look back on and (hopefully) remember in a positive light.”
She said the song speaks of summer nostalgia and looking back at a first love or a high school romance. Fee said she and her co-writer took inspiration from Eric Church’s “Springsteen.”
While she lives in Nashville fulltime, she records music, writes with fellow songwriters, and plays shows at various venues, like Belcourt Taps and 404 Bar and Grill. She also will be back in Sioux Falls in August performing at the Sioux Empire Fair. This will be the third year she’s able to do that.
