No new COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota; Active cases down Wednesday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - South Dakota health officials again reported no COVID-19 new deaths Wednesday as the state’s active case count continued a months-long decline.

The Department of Health reported ten new cases, bringing the state’s total case count to 124,382. Active cases fell by 16 to 170, the lowest since early April 2020.

The state’s COVID-19 death total remained unchanged at 2,026. Current hospitalizations fell by one to 28.

Officials say 56% of South Dakotans over the age of 12 have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, while 51.2% are fully vaccinated. The state has administered a total of 675,359 vaccines.
