SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation started a signature event, the Prime Time Gala & Concert, several years ago to raise money for Feeding South Dakota. Each year, there’s a gala, which includes a dinner and an auction, and there’s also a concert. This year, the concert features headliner Little Big Town and opening act Tyler Farr. Everything is held at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Tickets are still available for the concert and can be purchased online.

A portion of the proceeds from the concert and the gala benefit Feeding South Dakota. The organization has raised more than $1.5 million for the non-profit since June of 2014. The funds are specifically used to purchase beef for families across the state.

There is also a raffle to win a brand new truck to help raise money. A maximum of 1,000 tickets are sold at $100 each. The person who wins will get a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax Crew Cab from Billion Chevrolet. The winner does not need to be at the gala to win. Tickets for the raffle can also be purchased online.

Food insecurity is in every county in South Dakota. One of out every nine people in the state is food insecure. Feeding South Dakota gives out 15.4 million pounds of food to individuals in need, but less than 10% of that is protein.
