SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Tech colleges in South Dakota are rapidly filling their available class slots for this fall.

Paula Hawks, Career Services Coordinator at Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls tells WNAX Radio their registration sessions have been very popular. Some classes, like the school’s electrician program, already have a waiting list.

Hawks says students are seeing that tech degrees pay off, and are comparable and sometimes even better than traditional four-year college programs.

“Our students walk out with an average salary close to $40,000, which is pretty great for a start,” Hawks said.

South Dakota’s other tech colleges are in Watertown, Mitchell, and Rapid City.
