South Dakota American Legion receives donations from 30 posts
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota American Legion foundation is on the receiving end of a big donation.
South Dakota Legion members are hitting 30 Legion posts in four days collecting money for the foundation.
Friday’s ride included stops in Watertown, Arlington, Salem, and Montrose.
The money collected will go toward grants for kids and veterans around the state.
“There are a lot of veterans in South Dakota, a lot of children that are in need. And we’ve got children on the reservation that need a lot of help and throughout the community, throughout South Dakota. And we have a lot of homeless veterans in South Dakota. People really don’t think about that.” said Commander Fred Nelson.
In the past, the American Legion foundation has used money raised for things like backpacks for schools and gift bags during Christmas.
