SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken announced Monday his bid for a second term.
TenHaken made the announcement with his family on the Bike Trail under the historic 8th Street Bridge in downtown Sioux Falls.
TenHaken spoke about his almost four years as the city’s mayor highlighting achievements including investments in infrastructure, like the Eighth Street Bridge, economic development, and community investments such as The Link and Sioux 52.
TenHaken also spoke on his leadership through natural disasters like recent flooding and tornados, as well as, the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m proud of the work of my administration and the direction Sioux Falls is headed,” said TenHaken. “There is so much energy and optimism in this community right now and I’m eager to continue Sioux Falls’ success in a second term. Sioux Falls has a unique opportunity right now to prepare the city for the next several decades with key decisions. I hope the voters of Sioux Falls will entrust me to lead our city once again.”
TenHaken says the city needs to keep the “pedal on the gas” and continue to work on the city’s housing shortages, workforce challenges, and the post-COVID economy.
“So, for those and numerous other reasons it would be my honor to lead Sioux Falls forward for a second term as mayor of this city,” said TenHaken.
The City Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
