SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -- We’re tracking an area of rainfall moving in from the south that’s going to look to bring some moderate accumulations to parts of the area slowly overnight and throughout the first half of Wednesday.

Areas further north and west such as Aberdeen and Pierre will be avoiding this completely other than a few sprinkles being possible. Sioux Falls will be on the edge and will see nearly a half inch of rainfall, but locations such as southwestern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa have the potential to see an inch or more of rainfall. Because this is going to be moving in slowly, there isn’t a concern for flash flooding in our area.

This will wind down Wednesday night and give way to sunshine for Thursday Highs will even rebound into the 70′s across the area. Heading into Friday, we’ll get to the 80′s in western South Dakota and get to the mid to upper 70′s elsewhere and see more sunshine.

As we head into the holiday weekend, there will be multiple chances for showers and thunderstorms as a few series of disturbances move through and bring chances throughout the three day weekend. While it won’t be raining of storming the entire time, this is a good reminder to download the First Alert Weather App and stay up to date on the latest forecast!
