UPDATE: Fire at Pierre school under investigation
PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A suspicious fire Wednesday in a boys bathroom at Georgia Morse Middle School was intentionally set, according to the initial investigation.
UPDATE:
The fire happened around 10:50 a.m. All students were turned over to their parents or guardians by 1 p.m.
The department’s middle school resource officer was able to put the fire out, according to Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz.
The Pierre Fire Department worked to eliminate the smoke from the building and helped with the evacuation.
The school was closed for the rest of the day. The incident remains under investigation.

Georgia Morse Middle School in Pierre was evacuated Wednesday morning after a small fire was reported in a second-floor bathroom, according to Dakota Radio Group News.
Pierre Fire Chief Ian Paul says the fire is out, and the school is being ventilated.
