Hinton teen is a grilled cheese champ

HINTON, Iowa (KTIV) - One Siouxland student has received a unique, and cheesy, honor.

Hinton, Iowa high school junior Allison Hoefling took the top prize in the Grilled Cheese Championship at the annual Iowa Conference for the “Future Career and Community Leaders of America.” It’s a national organization that promotes personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

Hoefling’s grilled cheese recipe included roasted garlic and onion jam, bacon and three different kinds of cheese. She beat six other competitors to take the trophy. She then stopped by our sister station, in Cedar Rapids, to show off her sandwich-making skills.
