SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Drivers in downtown Sioux Falls are seeing detours this week near one of the city’s oldest landmarks.

Crews with Apex Construction are completing some repair work at the Old Courthouse Museum, which was built in 1890.

A large crane is being used to help with the repairs to the clock tower and the reshingling of the building’s roof.

Apex Construction said the project is pretty special.

“We’ve got a crew that is up in a basket replacing these shingles, and this slate has actually been sourced from Virginia. Specialty made, just for our Sioux Falls Old Courthouse Museum clock tower, and it will last for at least another 75 years,” said Jessica Crawford with Apex Construction.

The work is expected to take about 10 days and the crane is currently blocking most lanes of Main Avenue north of 6th Street. One northbound lane is open, but southbound is closed.
