SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The annual Riverfest festival will be returning for its 12th year in downtown Sioux Falls.

The event will happen on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2-8 p.m. on the Cherapa Place side of the Big Sioux Riverwalk.

This year’s Riverfest will highlight environmental initiatives, including hands-on demonstrations involving sustainability.

The Riverfest will also debut “floating islands” - a pilot water-filtration project using native plant beds, designed to improve water quality in the surrounding lakes and eventually, the Big Sioux River.

The event will feature live music, with “The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys” as the headliners.

Food vendors such as King of Gyros, SDSU Ice Cream, Backyard BBQ, and Breaking Burrito will also be at the event.

“Riverfest is more than a party on the river - it’s a celebration of the energy and vitality that makes downtown Sioux Falls the heart of our community,” said Brandon Hanson, CEO of Downtown Sioux Falls. “Events like this bring foot traffic to our local businesses and remind us that a thriving downtown means a stronger economy for everyone.”
