Erik Thorstenson

Morning Anchor

Erik Thorstenson is an Associated Press Award-winning Sportscaster and is now a Morning Anchor at Dakota News Now.

Erik grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated from the University of South Dakota. During college, he got his first taste of broadcasting at WNAX Radio in Yankton.

After school, Erik worked three years as a news/sports reporter at KTIV-TV in Sioux City.

Erik has won several Associated Press awards including Best Sportscast four times. He was the 2006-07 South Dakota High School Coaches Association Sportscaster of the Year.

In January of 2020, he moved to Morning Anchor. Erik can be seen weekdays on Dakota News Now from 5 am to 7 am.

Erik and his wife Amy live in Sioux Falls and are the proud parents of daughters Kate and Brooke, and sons Luke and Jack.
