Area high school teens helped kick off the 4th annual KSFY Media Camp Monday morning.

The teenagers are part of the week-long summer camp in conjunction with the Washington Pavilion.

During the next few days, they will learn about the world of broadcast news and what it takes to get a newscast on the air.

And they are pretty excited about it, so far.

"I'm really excited to see what really goes into making a broadcast, and just a lot behind journalism, and getting to be a professional anchor," Lincoln High School freshman Caleb Miller said. "It'll be a great experience, and I'm going to learn so much this week."

"The chance to be in the KSFY studio and really get a feel for what it's like to be a news reporter, or anchor, or anything really, or just to be in the scene and see what people do for a living," Washington High School senior Maddy Morgan said.

On Tuesday, students will learn the fundamentals of a good sales pitch and continue the hands-on learning through Friday when they will debut their very own newscasts on KSFY News at 5:00 and 6:00.
