Aberdeen is one step closer to being featured in a web series about small communities that would come with a $500,000 makeover.
The city was named as one of ten finalists in the "Small Business Revolution - Main Street" series on Tuesday.
The series examines small towns, their main streets, and the impact of small businesses on the communities. It has aired for two seasons on Hulu, YouTube, and on its website at www.smallbusinessrevolution.org.
Each season, the show helps give one community a "makeover." The town that is featured receives a $500,000 marketing makeover from Deluxe Corporation, the company that produces the series. City leaders receive business and marketing advice from experts to help the community develop and grow.
The ten finalists announced Tuesday are:
Aberdeen, South Dakota
Alton, Illinois
Americus, Georgia
Amesbury, Massachusetts
Bastrop, Texas
Brainerd, Minnesota
Exeter, New Hampshire
Florence, Oregon
Martinez, California
Siloam Springs, Arkansas
Deluxe team member swill narrow the list to five finalists after talking with city leaders from each community. The public will then vote on a winner.
