SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - One of Minnehaha County's most wanted is in custody following a near-capture this afternoon in Hartford.
28-year-old Donald James Hoff was wanted on several charges including stalking, violating a protection order, and weapons charges.
Authorities attempted to stop Hoff in a vehicle earlier on Tuesday but he sped off. Deputies later found his vehicle abandoned just south of Hartford.
As a precaution, West Central Elementary was briefly locked down. That has since been lifted.
Information was developed that Hoff was in a shop in an industrial area south of Hartford. The Deputies found the shop and attempted to contact him. Authorities eventually made contact and Hoff was taken into custody just before 3 p.m.
Authorities say Hoff had been hiding in an attic space inside the shop.
Hoff is being lodged at the Minnehaha County Jail for arrest warrants, aggravated eluding, with more charges possible.
