UPDATE 6/1/20 7:00 AM: A spokesperson for Avera Health said a lockdown on all hospitals and emergency rooms in Sioux Falls has been lifted.
A lockdown was issued late Sunday night out of an abundance of caution because of the protests and civil unrest in the city.
All Avera Health hospitals and emergency rooms in Sioux Falls are on temporary lockdown due to violent protests in the city.
An Avera spokesperson said Sunday night that the lockdown is due to the riot that broke out after protests over the death of George Floyd turned violent.
Avera says Emergency patients will still be admitted, and security is present at entrances. Employees should still report to work for scheduled shifts.
