Church hosts free rummage sale to help those in need
People lined up outside the Messiah New Hope Church Saturday morning, waiting for the start of a different kind of rummage sale.
For the past eight years, the church has collected donations of gently used items from their congregation and community. Each year they set out all of the collected items and give them away to anyone in need.
"They bring the things that they no longer need and we sort and put it all out and then open our doors to anyone," said volunteer Carol Dreke. "Whatever you need in your household, we try to have here for individuals who can come and pick it up, no questions asked, and put it to their use."
The church organizers said they've seen an increase in need in the Sioux Falls community and hope to help more people each year.
If you would like to help out, the church starts collecting donations from the community each spring.
