When it comes to 'back to school' celebrations, it's hard to beat Collegepalooza in downtown Aberdeen.

"It’s just a fun event. We hope that community members come out and just see what we’re doing. Welcome these kids back to school, the Freshman, welcome to Aberdeen,” said Craig Green, Collegepalooza Volunteer.

The third annual event brings together Northern State University and Presentation College students. They can participate in competitions like Guns and Hoses or tug o' war. There is also a dunk tank, business walk, and scholarship drawings.

"We just want to show them that Aberdeen’s a great place to live, and honestly we hope they stay after they graduate,” Green said.

Craig Green is a volunteer helping put the event together each year.

”In our third year, actually it’s become easier and easier to put this together because we know what we need to do,” Green said.

Green said the collaborative effort makes it all come together.

"It was a collaboration of a number of organizations in Aberdeen, obviously Northern and PC,” Green said

As they look to the future of the celebration, Green and the other organizers look forward to growth.

“You know the biggest part of it is making other businesses aware, how they can benefit from it, and then obviously making the students aware that it’s going on,” said Green.
