UPDATE, 11:55 p.m.

A woman is facing charges after police say she made a false report about someone being in the water at Falls Park, leading to a large search in the area.

Police received a report of a woman in the Big Sioux River in Falls Park just before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Tarah Walton.

Water rescue teams and paramedics arrived at the scene and began searching.

Officers made contact with the woman who made the report, 30-year-old Andrea Flowers of Sioux Falls. She said her wife had gone into the river, and she had gone in after her.

Crews centered their search in the area just north of the Falls Park Drive bridge.

Walton says investigators eventually determined the missing woman was actually in Texas. Officers confirmed this by speaking to her over the phone. Police then ended the search.

Flowers was arrested on charges of making a false report, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.
