Florists spread random acts of kindness with 'Petal It Forward'
Hundreds of florists spread smiles Wednesday, two bouquets at a time.
They hit the streets of Sioux Falls and nearly 400 other cities nationwide to "Petal It Forward," surprising passersby with two free bouquets each – one to keep and one to share with a friend, family member, coworker or even a stranger.
The owner of Country Garden Flowers and Gifts said she has "petaled it forward" more than 70 times so far, and she has loved the experience.
"It is fun. I gave one to a guy in a pickup truck, a construction worker, yesterday," Sue Mossefin said. "He was like, 'Oh those are pretty, wish I could have one,' and I said 'Well here ya go!' He just kinda laughed and said 'Okay, thanks!' He was like 'Great!' So yeah, it's fun."
Researchers with the University of North Florida say flowers are proven to have mood-boosting and stress-relief powers.
