SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The city of Sioux Falls will celebrate Earth Day Monday by partnering with Sioux Area Metro to offer free bus rides on fixed routes (Routes 1 through 19).
City officials said taking public transit is an easy way to help the environment because it reduces the number of vehicles on the road, the amount of fuel used, and engine emissions in the air.
“Our hope is that community members who have never tried taking the bus for their daily commute will use this opportunity to learn how to use the transit system, so in the future they may be more inclined to use alternative forms of transportation to help the environment,” said Jessica Sexe, Sioux Falls Sustainability Coordinator.
