People often take clean water for granted, but people in developing countries walk miles for theirs.

The World Vision's Global 6K for Clean Water is coming up on Saturday.

People around the world will walk or run more than three and a half miles to help bring clean water to people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A Sioux Falls woman was inspired to organize the city's first ever walk in partnership with Prairie Hills Covenant Church.

"Whether you walk or run, it doesn't matter," Senior Pastor Rick Carlson said. "To go 3.7 miles, the same distance that women and children in Africa go every single day to pick up water, clean water to drink."

Carlson is the Senior Paster at Prairie Hills Covenant Church.

The sponsor organization, World Vision, has raised $1.6 million to provide clean water. Team Sioux Falls already has more than 60 participants.
