Iroquois native crowned new Miss South Dakota

An Iroquois native is the state's newly-crowned Miss South Dakota 2018. Carrie Wintle took home the title Saturday night's pageant in Hot Springs.

In addition to the crown, Wintle was awarded with more than $10,000 in scholarships.

She will compete at the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey this fall. The finals air on KSFY on Sunday, September 9th.

Immediately after the crowning, it was announced that Brookings was awarded the contract to be the host city of the pageant for the next three years.
