UPDATE, 5:30 p.m.

President Trump delivered a speech to a crowd of supporters at a fundraising event for Kristi Noem at the Sioux Falls convention center in Sioux Falls.

During his speech, Trump spoke on many topics he has focused on during his administration.

Trump began by thanking South Dakota for support during the election. He handily won South Dakota's three electoral votes in November of 2016.

Trump targeted Noem's opponent in the upcoming election for governor, Democrat Billie Sutton, saying he will raise taxes in South Dakota.

The president also reiterated his support for a wall between the United States and Mexico, saying the U.S. has some of the worst immigration laws in the world. He pointed to the effectiveness of Israel's wall with Palestine as a template for success.

Trump touched on several other familiar topics, including touting the success of the economy and calling out the "fake news" media for its lack of coverage on his successes.

He ended his speech with an endorsement for Noem, saying she is going to be a "great governor."

After the roughly half-hour speech, Trump's motorcade headed back to the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. Air Force One departed around 5:45 p.m.

Several Trump supporters greeted Trump at the airport and along the path of the motorcade to and from the convention center. A handful of protesters also greeted the president during his brief trip to Sioux Falls.
