Law enforcement hosts 'Stickers and Snickers' on Halloween
For the 7th year, law enforcement agencies are getting into the Halloween spirit across the Sioux Empire.
Sioux Falls Police officers, Highway Patrol troopers, Sheriff's deputies and staff at Metro Communications handed out candy to kids trick-or-treating in area neighborhoods, Tuesday night.
Over the years, kids have been pretty excited to see officers hand out Snickers candy bars and badge stickers. Officers say they were just as thrilled.
"It's a great opportunity for us to get to know the children in this area. Build a postiive outloook. Have them know we're more than just police officers - we're people and that's important," SFPD Officer Dane Chernock said.
Officers hope, by being out in the community, it serves as a reminder for drivers to be careful on a night when a lot of kids were out on the street.
