April is Autism Awareness Month, and Sunday is World Autism Awareness Day.
Many landmarks across the world will be lit blue Sunday night in honor of the day, but in Sioux Falls, another kind of celebration already took place.
Electric Rainbow in the Western Mall was the site of the 3rd annual Arcade Bash for Autism.
Hundreds of people came out to enjoy the arcade while also raising funds and awareness for people affected by autism.
"I did it because so many people have autism, and unfortunately not much money is funded for the research. So I thought if I can help a few people with autism, even just one person, that will make it all worth while. And it has been all worth while," event organizer Steven Prendergast said.
Money raised at the event will got to Augustana's Lighting the Way Autism Walk, an organization that helps connect families with local resources.
