A conference that sheds light on technology and innovation in education is underway in Sioux Falls.

The TIE organization is holding its 32nd annual conference for South Dakota educators Monday and Tuesday at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

More than 1,000 teachers, administrators and other school personnel gathered at the event to learn about the latest instructional technology being used in schools.

"We want to learn more about the technologies that help empower learning and empower students so they can go on to learn all of the things they need to be successful members of the workforce," TIE director Julie Mathiesen said.

The event runs until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
