Man killed in construction accident at gravel pit near Fort Pierre
A 61-year-old man was killed in a construction accident at a gravel pit in central South Dakota.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at a gravel pit west of Fort PIerre.
Dakota Radio Group reports Steven Pigsley of Black Hawk was working for a Rapid City subcontractor on the repaving of S.D. Highway 34. He drove his truck to the gravel pit where he got out to hook up a chain for a loader.
According to the Stanley County Sheriff's Office, the loader operator did not see the driver get out. Pigsley ended up pinned between the loader and his truck.
