Sioux Falls Fire Rescue pulled a man from the water at Falls Park late Friday night.

A Sioux Falls Police officer was first on the scene and located the man on the east bank of the river.

He was in three to four feet of water.

The officer threw a rope down to the man, but he appeared hypothermic and lacked the strength to climb the rope.

Fire Rescue teams used a ladder to clear the hand rail and climbed down the 12 foot retaining wall to reach the man.

Once the man was secured with another rope, the team of police and fire personnel hoisted him up the ladder.

Paramedics treated the man on the scene for cold exposure.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind visitors of the parks and bike trail system to respect the flood water and maintain a safe distance from the water.
