A record number of people came through the doors of the Midco Aquatic Center last month despite competition from outdoor public pools.

The City said 27,055 people came to the Midco Aquatic Center in June, which was the highest attended month since the facility opened to the public on October 13, 2016.

The previous record was 24,195 customers in January 2017.

“Our indoor aquatic center seems to be the preferred place to be when it’s hot outside, although the outdoor pools also are seeing good attendance," Don Kearney, director of Parks and Recreation, said.

"This great facility has only added to the incredible amenities our residents and visitors can enjoy in the park system in the summertime."

From October 13, 2016, to June 30, 2017, total attendance at the Midco Aquatic Center was 166,116, according to the City.

The Midco Aquatic Center is open seven days a week, and open swim is available during all operational hours. The facility hours are:

• Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Sunday, 12 noon to 5 p.m.
