The community of Harrisburg now has its own Catholic parish.
The Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls officially opened the "John Paul II" parish in Harrisburg on Sunday.
Mass has been held in Harrisburg for the past two years, but nine months ago, the diocese appointed Father John Rutten to look into the possibility of creating a parish in Harrisburg.
Father Rutten says the community has grown enough to support a local parish.
