Pierre bridge remains undefeated

No one was hurt in the latest accident involving a semi-truck and a low-clearance bridge in Pierre.
Dakota Radio Group reports the accident happened Thursday morning at the South Pierre Street Bridge.
According to the Pierre Police Department, 54-year-old Dahou Tafic of Ontario, Canada was driving north on Pierre Street and did not see the signage indicated the bridge height.
The top of the semi-truck hit the bridge. Tafic then attempted to continue driving through, but the truck's load - consisting of two bulldozers - got hung up on the bridge.
Police closed off the street for about an hour until the cargo could be unloaded, allowing the truck and trailer to move.
The crash caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the truck and its cargo.
Police issued Tafic a citation for a truck route violation.
