UPDATE: 'Suspicious device' found in Sioux Falls was homemade firework

UPDATE, 11:55 a.m.

Police have given the all-clear after investigating a suspicious device found in northeast Sioux Falls.

Public Information Officer Sam Clemens says the device in question was a homemade firework. He says there is no threat to the public.

Police had temporarily closed off streets near the 1300 block of East 7th Street Monday morning as they investigated the device. Bomb squad officers assisted in the investigation.


Authorities are investigating a suspicious device in a northeast Sioux Falls neighborhood.

The device was found Monday morning on the 1300 block of East 7th Street.

Police have not given any details about the device, but they are asking people to avoid the area while they investigate.

A KSFY News crew at the scene spotted a Sioux Falls Police Department bomb squad robot working in the area.
