The ReStorAtion Art Auction is Saturday in Sioux Falls at a new location than the past four years. This year, the auction will be at The District rather than the Icon Lounge. The District is at 4521 West Empire Place near the Empire Mall. The event starts at 7:00 PM.

This is the fifth year in a row that Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls has gathered local artists and carpenters to restore items into works of art and furniture. The items they restore are from the ReStore on East Amidon Street in Sioux Falls. People donate gently used or brand new household items to that store where the non-profit sells them. Artists and carpenters use the items in the store though to make something for the auction.

In the past four years of this event, 435 items from the store have been used for 225 submissions. The organization has raised enough money in the past four years to roof three Habitat houses. It is free to attend the event and bid on different items.

The event is always held in conjunction with Earth Day to serve as a reminder that repurposing these items is also good for the environment.
